Danley’s patented Synergy Horn technology places multiple drivers of different bandwidths into a single horn so they behave as one coherent, full-range source. The aim is phase accuracy, consistent response across the stated coverage angle and strong pattern control without relying on multiple separated sources.
A Tapped Horn uses both sides of its driver within a carefully designed horn path. Their outputs combine over the operating range to produce efficient, controlled low-frequency output from a practical enclosure. Exact behaviour varies by model, so use the published data rather than assuming every tapped-horn design is the same.

Lead time depends on current stock, factory build schedules, finish or configuration requirements and freight. Sound Is Everything will confirm the best available estimate when quoting and will identify any assumptions that could affect delivery.
Placement depends on the room or site, audience geometry, target coverage and physical constraints. Ground placement can add boundary coupling and tactile impact; flown placement can improve distance consistency and sightlines. A centre cluster often reduces left/right interference, while split arrays can create strong and weak zones. Model and measure the proposed layout before deployment, and use qualified personnel for any rigging.
Conventional cardioid arrays use forward and rearward elements with carefully chosen delay, polarity and level to reduce rearward output. End-fire arrays use spaced, forward-facing elements and delay to shape directionality. Both require exact spacing, processing and measurement.
Danley BC subwoofers are directional by nature. Their Boundary Coupled horn design creates useful low-frequency directivity acoustically inside the enclosure, without requiring the additional cabinets or electrical delay and polarity calculations used to create directionality in a conventional array. For projects where controlled low frequency is essential, the BC family is our no-compromise solution.
Many passive Danley cabinets use parallel NL4 connectors and commonly use pins 1+ and 1−, but dual-impedance and multi-circuit models can differ. Never assume the pinout. Check the current user manual and input plate, then confirm with Sound Is Everything before connecting multiple amplifier channels. Incorrect wiring can damage equipment.
Published maximum SPL is only meaningful with its measurement conditions: distance, peak or continuous method, weighting, bandwidth and available amplifier power all matter. The room, processing, temperature and required headroom also affect the real result. Compare like with like and model the listening area rather than relying on a single headline number.
The answer comes from required frequency extension, target SPL at the furthest audience position, programme crest factor, placement and coupling—not simply audience size. Establish the performance target, model continuous and peak output with sensible headroom, then check the proposed array in the real space. Sound Is Everything can help with that process.
Weather suitability is model- and finish-specific. OS and approved all-weather products, coatings, hardware and connection options have different exposure limits. An indoor product is not made weatherproof by adding a cover. Confirm the current finish, hardware, mounting orientation, drainage, cable entry and corrosion environment with Sound Is Everything before specification.
Use current Danley DSP presets and product data wherever available. Limiter threshold, attack and release depend on loudspeaker impedance, amplifier gain, processing topology and programme material. Do not copy a generic voltage setting from another model or system; Sound Is Everything can help verify gain structure and protection settings.
DNA amplifiers make this considerably safer for the connected equipment. Danley has refined its factory-derived loudspeaker settings over many years, matching the processing and protection to each supported product rather than relying on a generic limiter calculation. With the correct preset, firmware, output configuration and gain structure, much of the guesswork is removed. In our service experience, correctly configured DNA systems suffer fewer driver failures.
Always confirm that the selected preset matches the exact loudspeaker model and system wiring before applying power.
High acoustic output creates substantial reaction force, and a cabinet can creep on a smooth or uneven surface. Place it on a stable, level surface and use approved feet, mats, restraints or rigging appropriate to the model and venue.
Stacking multiple subwoofers adds mass and can improve physical stability. A carefully designed stack can also be advantageous acoustically: cabinet quantity, spacing and orientation affect coupling and can help create the desired polar response.
A taller vertical stack generally retains broader horizontal bass coverage while increasing control in the vertical plane. Making an array wider horizontally generally tightens its horizontal pattern. That control can be useful, but the interaction between spaced sources can also create bass lanes or power alleys—alternating areas of stronger and weaker low-frequency energy that change with frequency and listening position.
Always model the complete array, its operating bandwidth and its interaction with nearby boundaries for the actual space. More cabinets do not automatically produce the intended coverage, and an acoustic model is the most reliable way to compare stack height, width, spacing and orientation before deployment.
Extra weight is not a substitute for physical safety. Use manufacturer-approved stacking or rigging arrangements, secure the system appropriately, maintain required port and ventilation clearances, and include cabinet movement and public access in the site safety plan.
A tapped horn does not have one universal delay derived from its physical horn length. The effective phase relationship changes with frequency, crossover filters, placement and the loudspeaker it is being aligned to. Use acoustic measurement and the current model data to verify polarity, crossover and delay at the intended reference position.

Small contamination, damaged spacers or incorrect reassembly can cause another failure, so this work should be performed by an authorised or appropriately qualified technician.

The commercial warranty does not include loan equipment, substitute equipment hire, on-site attendance, removal or reinstallation, or compensation for loss of use, revenue or profit. These exclusions do not limit any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

For a commercial warranty return, obtain return authorisation and shipping instructions before dispatch. Use suitable protective packaging. Original packaging is not required. Return authorisation is an administrative step and does not determine statutory rights.
Assessment will establish whether the fault is covered and the applicable service arrangements. Chargeable inspection or work outside warranty will be quoted for approval before proceeding. Charges will not apply where prohibited by consumer law.
