The brief
Festival sound needs scale and fidelity, but it also carries transport, labour, cabling, amplifier and generator requirements. The production team wanted to examine electrical demand as part of the full system design rather than considering only the generator fuel.
The system
The main front-of-house system served approximately 10,000 festival-goers. A Live Sound reported a measured draw of roughly 15–20 amperes while the system was operating, attributing the reduction to horn efficiency, reduced source count and modern amplification.
The result
The festival team described the result as crisp and powerful despite the compact visible system. The broader lesson is valuable locally: system efficiency can reduce more than electricity use—it can also reduce trucks, handling, cabling, labour and the infrastructure required to support a show.
