Stadium sound beside a hospital
The University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium sits beside homes, university buildings and a hospital. Danley’s documented installation used a J5-4015 Caleb Horn alongside J4 and SH64 loudspeakers and BC415 subwoofers. Directional control was central to the brief: delivering game presentation within the stadium while limiting spill towards sensitive neighbours. The project also used Danley’s Direct modelling software.
Design considerations
Neighbouring properties should be included in a stadium model from the beginning. A useful comparison considers where sound is unwanted as carefully as where it is required.
