Low-frequency reinforcement beneath Utah’s cliffs
Tuacahn Amphitheater in Ivins, Utah, hosts musical theatre and concerts in a dramatic outdoor canyon setting. The nearly 2,000-seat venue added two TH812 subwoofers to strengthen low-frequency reproduction. Danley’s case study focuses on that bass-system addition, rather than claiming the entire theatre uses a single manufacturer. It is an example of upgrading one part of an established performance system.
Design considerations
An outdoor theatre upgrade can start with the weakest part of the existing system. Subwoofer placement, crossover alignment and the audience’s experience should be assessed before simply increasing bass output.
