Serviceable clusters at Nationwide Arena
Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, serves ice hockey and touring entertainment. Its documented Danley system uses eight main clusters, each with two SH96 loudspeakers and a TH118 subwoofer. Eight SM100 loudspeakers form an upper-tier delay ring, and additional SH96 units cover the ice. Daktronics installed the clusters on chain motors for servicing and to accommodate touring productions when needed.
Design considerations
In a multi-use arena, maintenance and visiting production requirements belong in the audio brief. Sound coverage is only part of a successful system if loudspeakers obstruct events or are difficult to service.
