Individually zoned sound for Machine Auguries
Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg’s Machine Auguries: Toledo explores the relationship between nature and artificial sound through a simulated dawn chorus. At the Toledo Museum of Art, the installation used 24 individually zoned Danley Cube loudspeakers with amplification networked over Dante. Great Lakes Sound was among the technical partners. The project demonstrates a different role for compact loudspeakers: creating many controlled sound locations inside an artwork.
Design considerations
Museums and immersive exhibits need spatial intention as well as fidelity. Plan loudspeaker positions, individual control and maintenance access with the artist and content team from the outset.
