Emagine Entertainment combined two former theatres during a major renovation of its Novi location, creating a 320-seat room with Michigan’s largest cinema screen and a 64-channel Dolby Atmos system.
The brief
The 92-foot by 48-foot screen required substantial output, but the design team also wanted the fidelity and detail expected from premium cinema. Conventional cinema boxes were too light for the room, while a multi-box array approach added cost and unwanted source interaction.
The system
Five Danley SH96HO loudspeakers provide the left, left-centre, centre, right-centre and right screen channels. A directional Danley BC418 subwoofer supplies the low-frequency foundation, with the remaining surround channels completing the Dolby Atmos environment.
The result
The system combines large-room impact with the honesty and detail of a coherent source. Emagine Novi is a useful reference for premium cinema projects that need scale without turning every screen channel into a field of competing boxes.
