Immersive monitoring at Crossway Studio
Crossway Studio in Mendham, New Jersey, restored Whitney Houston’s former private studio with a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring system. Sweetwater Integration and Russ Berger Design Group worked on the renewal. Three HRE1 monitors serve the front channels, with two DTS20 subwoofers and SM-series loudspeakers completing the immersive array. Owner Hal Cohen also adopted TDH-3 nearfield monitors. The installation brings large-format monitoring into a carefully redesigned recording space.
Design considerations
Immersive studios need consistent tonal behaviour across channels and coordinated bass management. Speaker choice should follow the room geometry, mix positions and calibration plan, rather than channel count alone.
